Maybe some one out there can help me identify this odd ball?
While collecting water with a bucket from a well at a farm in El Salvador, I was suddenly confronted with one of the strangest creepy crawlies I had ever seen. Ever since that day I have wondered just what it was and if anyone had any ideas as to what in might be. Maybe you know?
This spider was clearly uniquely suited and had evolved in the dark depths of the underworld. As I was withdrawing the bucket this thing appeared from the murky shadows, scurrying up the wall, stopping just shy of the where the sun light hit the well wall. Startled I drew back momentarily from the well. The hand sized spider was like nothing I had seen before. It had a typical spider shape head thorax and abdomen, but quite flat, and matt black. Where one would expect to find its eyes where a series of florescent dots. The most surprising feature where a per of extremely long antenna extending in front of the spider, perhaps twice the length of the spider, and the amazing way they moved. The antenna moved in a constant wavelike sweeping motion. Imaging shaking a lose wire or string and watching the ripples advance along the string. That’s how the two antenna swept in unison to the front of the spider in a smooth fluid manner. It remained there for a short time before realising it did not belong in our world and scurried back down into the shadowy underworld. What in the world was that?
