Karl was neither an athlete or special in any way, however he was determined to show that a common man can rise to the challenge. Go above and beyond expectation, what can be imagined or achieved.

Karl embarked on this odyssey with no sponsorship. Prior to embarking on the 'Goliath Expedition' Karl and his father, Keith Bushby, actively sought sponsorship from businesses within the United Kingdom. Because the first step had yet to be taken, and due to the enormity of the challenge, support / sponsorship was understandably not forthcoming.

Having journeyed the length of the Americas, tackled and achieved the Darien Gap and the crossing of the Bering Strait, Odyssey XXI is in the record books. Public awareness and support for the endeavour will only increase. Karl has faced tremendous challenges mentally, emotionally and certainly physically. Since day one, he has met those challenges at every turn and he's up for more. Karl’s ability, relentless commitment and resolve are potent demonstrations of invaluable messages for society today. There is only one component of this Odyssey is missing, and that's you.

The point is simple. Karl Bushby and this Odyssey have something no other individual or group can offer. In order to continue and build on that success, the endeavour requires investment and participation. The North Face UK has provided Karl with superb equipment and clothing over the last eight years. All the essentials from tents to sleeping bags and backpacks, including ample clothing. The North Face continues to support Karl in his endeavour, to ensure he never stops exploring.

Zamberlan
Zamberlan have been the only company to support the Odyssey from its earliest days. From day one Karl has worn a selection of Zamberlan boots that have served him well for over 16,000 miles in the severest weather conditions.

ESS
ESS (Eye Safety Systems) have provided Karl with numerous pairs of robust, comfortable eye protection for over two years. Very important in Arctic / sub-Arctic conditions where goggles and glasses are a vital must and are subjected to harsh unforgiving environments.

5.11 Tactical have provided Karl with equipment and clothing of a durable, practical nature for over a year now. Helping Karl with his needs both on and off the ground to help sustain the Odyssey.
